My apologies to Xoel, I was cleaning up his crater art and, well, there's not much of the original left. But fear not, there will be plenty of other craters.

"Red" tower
« Reply #16 on: September 09, 2010, 08:17:32 PM »
The red tower is made from an old piece of industrial equipment, some sort of mixer. The exterior is galvanized steel like a grain tower http://image.tradevv.com/2009/05/21/mayonghuanklose_1175857_600/grain-silo.jpg or http://www.sjzafrica.com/dream/uploadfile/jpg/2008-12/20081227113849901.jpg.

It is highly distressed but not too rusty as it is in an airless environment (but wasn't always). There is a spiral ramp on the interior with "fins" on the bottom which was the mixing mechanism.

At the top of the ramp there is a plank which leads into a crevasse in the crater wall.

The scale needs to be worked out more specifically and there is plenty of room for additional mechanical dressing.

No worries.

Ceidru and I pondered the idea of a broken dome around the edges of the crater map (by broken, I mean completely in ruins)... looking alot clunkier and older than the domes we will implement later, it would have been put up to protect the mine (and is now destroyed, possibly by Venusians)...

Just some ideas.

Collapsed dome is a good idea. The dome debris can go a long ways towards filling the crater with junk/obstacles. Perhaps a maze can be formed from the debris.

I believe we still need someone to work with the pnp terrain editor. I would really like to see this added into the demo. Venae is pretty far along and all we'd then need is pieces and parts to strew about in the crater. If this doesn't make the demo, I'd be in favor of this being an expansion or update fairly soon.
